MediaCore Launches the Flipped Institute to Help Teachers Learn to Flip their Classrooms
According to the official blog of the U.S. Department of Education, “Every day should be Digital Learning Day.” We agree. Everyone should have the opportunity to learn wherever and whenever they want. And digital devices and media are helping to make that possible for many people around the world.

They also enable teachers to teach differently. By offloading part or all of the lecture portion of their class to a digital format, teachers are able to use their class time for hands-on learning, as well as more 1:1 and small group interactions. Affectionately known as “flipping”, this method has delivered some great measurable outcomes.
One of the proponents of flipping is Greg Green, principal of Clintondale High School in Michigan. After conducting a pilot for math and science instruction, he became so convinced of its merits that he transformed the entire school, and became the principal of America’s first flipped high school.
At Greg’s high school, teacher-student 1:1 time has quadrupled, the students are much more engaged, and failure rates have plummeted. So impressed with these outcomes, Greg has devoted a great deal of time to helping other teachers and school districts develop flipped programs focused on achieving better outcomes for their students too.
One of the outcomes of this process has been a 30-day coaching program to help teachers understand the teaching methods and technologies to support flipping. Originally a 90-day program, it has been condensed to 30 days based on feedback from teachers at Clintondale.
This program is now available through the Flipped Institute, an expert online resource for educators learning to flip their classrooms. MediaCore has partnered with Greg to support teachers in adopting the flipped classroom model by providing free resources, expert coaching, and the ability to practice these techniques using a free video learning platform. Specifically, it offers
- Free resources, including How-To, tips and techniques, and a flipped classroom video for students, parents, or anyone new to the concept
- An AsktheExpert blog, where experts post responses to teachers’ questions
- Free teacher accounts for hosting educational videos, podcasts, and related documents securely online
- Access to a 30-day flipped classroom coaching program delivered by Greg
“The availability of free resources, coaching on the principles and practical aspects of the various technologies used in flipped learning, combined with a media platform where teachers can host their materials using free accounts, makes it easy for any teacher to get started,” says Green.
